Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

The food here is ok, the portion sizes are ok. I find most of the food I have eaten here on the bland dude, little salt/pepper would do wonders, the wings are great, the mumbo sauce is just another sweet and sour sauce, needs alittle heat!!!, it's a great place for quick carry out!! G

Love Hong Kong express because of their quick service and great food. The main reason I gave them four stars is because (1) they don't have delivery and (2) the cold-faced lady taking orders has no customer service skills whatsoever... The food makes up for the lack of smile and expression she has though.

Disgusting! The nastiest carryout I've even been in and I could see the cook wiping his nose with his hands. I walked out and I'll NEVER eat here again.

If you like dry, favorless food then, this is your place. The restaurant just looks unclean. I've lived in this area for 16 years tried this place once even twice and that was enough for me. It's sad that I always have to travel to Alexandria to get a decent meal because there's not one decent restaurant in this area

I live in fort Washington so take out is a must when the day is long and I am not up to cooking. This place used to be the grease spoon of the four chinese places in the area. I think they have changed management and cook staff... The food is sooo much better, they don't forget things (big pet peeve) and they are quick even on a weekend night. I love the dumplings, hot n sour soup, and most of all.. Mongolian beef. Yum. The only other place I'll go is top china a street light away.

I have grown up eating at Hong Kong and they have THE BEST egg rolls in the DMV! Hands down! Food is always hot and fresh!

Best hot and sour soup anywhere! Loved the tender cooked pork, mushrooms, fresh tofu, and bamboo shoots in it and the perfect balance of salt, sweet, sour, unami, and heat. The cook knew how to make this soup singshould.

Review is price/taste based. Their lunch specials are great I've had a bunch General Tso's, Shrimp with veggies, and spare ribs. All yummy.

This is just about the only carry out I get my chinese food from. I can not find mumbo sauce like this anywhere! They make my food how I ask for it, and that is a plus for me.

Please do NOT EAT HERE. I just found a large winged bug COOKED INTO MY FOOD. I've never been here before, and will never go here again. I cannot believe this just happened. This was no small bug that came off an improperly washed veggie, this was a large bug that had clearly made it into the food before or during cooking. It was covered in sauce and intertwined with the other pieces of food. DISGUSTING!!! I'm reporting this place to the health department. Please please PLEASE do not eat there!

I love the food here! It's one of the best Asian take out places in Ft. Washington! My favorite is the lomein house special. Portions are large and ingredients always are fresh!

I went here because I was on lunch break, needed to grab something and felt like Chinese. I should have done Wendy's. I ordered some pan-fried dumplings and roast pork chow mein. I got back to the office with my takeout and my excitement over having a hot lunch quickly soured into disappointment. So the dumplings were passable. A bit too doughy and not very seasoned. Also the requisite dipping sauce had a odd funk to it. The chow mein was a total failure. Now maybe I'm not versed enough in Chinese food, but when I think of chow mein, it is a pile of noodles, sometimes crispy, sometimes soft, with veggies protein and savory sauce piled on. Hong Kong Express's preparation was a soup like concoction of shredded cabbage with some dried out roast pork and a dull bland sauce. What about the noodles? Well, there was a little packet of dry fried noodles smaller than a bag of deli potato chips (see my picture for this business). I was confused and a little angry. I was expecting a nice noodly lunch and got this instead. Perhaps I'm missing something here. However, the veggie/pork mix was pretty awful in its own right, so some real noodles would not have saved it from the trash can.

As other reviewers have mentioned the customer service sucks. The staff is very rude especially on the phone. The food is okay, my husband loves it, even though I think Asian Star down the street is better.

Would have given this place 4 stars....... I use to come here all the time and order Shrimp Fried Rice with no onions (I hate onions) but now they claim that can't make General Tso's Chicken with Fried Rice without onions. How hard is it to make fried rice and omit the onions? Won't be coming back here anymore

Used to eat here often until I brought my food back from home because the sauce was wrong expecting them to fix me a fresh batch & they dumped my food into a pan with fresh food and added the right sauce. I know that I didn't tamper with the food, but who knows what the next person might do.

I'm not really big on eating Chinese carry out food, but Hong Kong Express is the exception. I actually have the phone number on speed dial. They're great when I get off work late and have that long drive home down rte 210. I hit the speed dial and "Hong Kong may I hep you?" (and no, I didn't miss-spell help, that's how she says it) By the time I get there, my food is beautifully packaged and ready to go. What I usually order: Peking duck. Not a lot of places offer this, let alone for take out. Marinated and roasted and comes with hoisin sauce, slivered green onions, and Chinese style "tortilla" wraps. The skin is the best part. Nom nom nom! Flied Chicken wings with mumbo sauce and flied lice. (I didn't miss-spell that either) Mongolian beef. It's always so tender and perfectly cooked here. Moo shoo pork. Tender pork and cabbage in moo shoo sauce with wraps. You make little burritos and nom nom nom! Shrimp stir fry. You have to tell them "shrimp with vegetables" or you'll end up with deep fried shrimps. Another plus is that they're open late. I'm never disappointed here.

I grew up here and go out of my way to get Chinese food from here. They have the BEST flavorful, original recipe, mumbo sauce hands down. I can NOT stand that orange mess everyone else has. The food and service is always consistently good with stable prices.

Great fast food chinese food. My favorite thing to get here is the 5-piece fried chicken wings combo with fried rice and "mumbo" sauce. These aren't tiny wings either, these are steriod injected, HGH enhanced Barry Bonds wings. Not sure what the hell mumbo sauce is, but it tastes damn good on wings, french fries, fried rice, etc. In fact, I've found that pretty much anything it happens to drip on becomes edible so word to the wise, keep the pets and small children away while you gorge on this fried yumminess. Not much seating at this place, I'm assuming most of their business is "to go." This is one of the few chinese food take-out places in PG County that does not have a bullet-proof window separating you from the cashier. Maybe the pictures of home town hero Riddick Bowe hanging on the walls deters crime. It's right off of Indian Head Highway, and only 2 minutes from my peeps house so it is really convenient for me.

Called in for a pick up order. The guy on the phone was not so nice. I wasn't expecting to have a full on conversation, debating the meaning of life or anything, but I was expecting dude to be pleasant... which he was not. That kinda put me off, but whatever, on to the food: 1) General Tso Chicken: super dry and hard. It seemed that there was not much chicken and too much breading and frying going on. 2) Chicken Wings and Mumbo Sauce: How could you ever go wrong with that? After moving away from MD for 4.5 years, it's good to know that some things haven't changed. I'll be back for fast Chinese food. Next time, I'll just get my husband to phone in the order :)

This is the worst carry-out food I've ever had, and I love carry-out food. The noodles have the texture of soft candle wax and have a waxy film on them when you eat them. The shrimp wasn't cleaned properly (well as properly as it could have been for a carry-out). I will never go here ever again. By far the WORST carry-out I've ever had.
(1)Kristy G.
It's always good and ready!
(4)Gary H.
I'd skip it. Their sauces were very bland. The meat dishes had hardly any meat and the customer service was lousy.
(1)William M.
The restaurant is CLOSED! Boarded up! I saw it today, July 15th. Now where will we be able to get Chinese food from? There are very few food options in Ft Washington.
(5)Theo W.
I went in the carrying and asked for General Tso's chicken with the sauce on the side. The lady adamantly told me they can not do it, not once but 3 times. Then she told me it is a dollar extra. So when I asked why she said I do make the rules I enforce it with an attitude. Poor customer service, do not give your money to people who have no respect for you. However, I went to Top China around the corner, and not only did they oblige, food and service was exceptional.
